A Tree in Every Room
Jen Haeger
Growing up, my mom loved Christmas. Like most families, we had a main tree that the presents would go under in the living room, but we also had a tree in the family room, one in the den, one in the dining room, one in each of the bedrooms, and one in the basement (that’s 9 trees if you’re counting). The basement tree was my favorite because it was the kids’ tree. My sister and I had full control over what color lights and which ornaments went on this tree including the tree topper, no matter if it was a star or a stuffed animal.
Because of our young cats, the last couple of years we’ve had to put up our single Christmas tree in the basement. Not really where I’d want to place our lone Christmas tree. But when I hung some of the same ornaments on it as on my childhood kids’ tree, it took me right back to the days when we had a tree in every room.

About Jen Haeger
My name is Jen Haeger and I have a degree in Veterinary Medicine as well as a Master’s in Forensic Science, so I decided to forget all that and write a novel. I used to read quite a bit as a youth, but was not introduced to truly spectacular writing until my husband showed me the works of Jim Butcher, Neil Gaiman, Philip Pullman, and others. We are both enormous dorks and enjoy Science Fiction, Fantasy, Board Games, and RPGs, but also try to get out backpacking every once in a while (much easier to do when we lived in New Zealand).
Read Jen’s book Whispers of a Killer, the first book in the WHISPS series.
